Would you like to be of service?
For 20 years, Maison de la Maitresse has been San Francisco's premiere boutique BDSM play space, a home to some of the most skilled professional kink players in the world, and a safe haven for our communities.
I was fortunate to purchase this building in 2003, and am now reaching out to you, beloved community, as I endeavor to give this historic, 150 year old building the special care she needs and deserves.
If you’ve ever played at la Maison, and felt seen and connected to your kink here, you know how special this place is. Although I’m not a religious person, I’ve often thought of la Maison as a church. We’ve hosted thousands of guests who have come here to discover and celebrate a part of themselves that is precious, and might not be visible any place else. We come here to feel empowered and liberated from shame, to embrace and love and care for ourselves and each other.
If you’ve been here you know, and if this space and the play you’ve experienced here (or one day hope to experience) has moved you, I’m asking for your contribution to help with some Big Ticket™ items that require attention if we're going to keep la Maison in operation. These include:
UPDATE August 2024: After six grueling months of construction our backside looks beautiful and the roof is almost finished! The foundation is all that's left to tackle.
Homeownership in San Francisco is not for the faint of heart. From our cost of living (over 79% higher than the US average) to the cost of home repair (up 67% in the past decade), it's no secret that living in the Bay is a pricey endeavor. In the 30 years since I've lived in San Francisco, I've seen vibrant kink, LGBTQ+, and artist communities – the communities that have historically given San Francisco its character and uniqueness - pushed out by skyrocketing costs of living and a paucity of affordable housing. It's been a blessing that la Maison has been able to keep its doors open as long as it has, particularly as other community-oriented play spaces in the City have shuttered.
Many hands make light work, and there’s truly no contribution toward this effort that’s too small - 100% of what's donated will go toward restoration costs, it all adds up. Angel contributors who have the means to do more and would like to get creative about how your involvement can make a difference should reach out, la Maison would love to take care of you. Through it all, I’ll be posting updates, and all contributors will have the option of joining a special mailing list, where you’ll receive photos of our progress (as well as some fun behind the scenes looks at la Maison).
Thank you for helping ensure that la Maison remains a vibrant part of San Francisco's kink heritage.
Much love,
Morgana Maye

- Re-siding and structural repairs to the back of the building and rear stairs (completed! $110,000)
- A full roof replacement (in progress! $35,000)
- And (deep breath) a new, earthquake sound foundation (structural engineering plans are in place, estimated at $200,000)

HOW MUCH ARE YOU LOOKING TO FUND?
We've got upward of $350K in building repairs and improvements, all of which have been bid at competitive prices in one of the most expensive home construction markets in the country. Some of these projects are currently underway (the siding replacement and building structural repairs on the back of the property are almost complete), others will need capital in order to undertake. 100% of funds donated to the Maison Preservation Project will go toward contractor fees, materials, permitting fees, and other costs directly related to the work that needs to be done.
Is my donation private?
Yes, all donors' personal information will be kept private and will not be posted publicly. I'll reach out with a thank you note to let you know it's been received, and if you'd like to join our private mailing list with updates on the work being done, you can let me know your preferred e-mail address. You will not be marketed to and your contact information will not be shared in any way.
i don't have paypal, can i donate another way?
You don't need a PayPal account to donate through the link above, you can give with any major credit or debit card without joining PayPal or having an account. If you have any concerns or questions, contact me and we can discuss!
i'd like to make a large donation, is paypal the best way to do this?
If you'd like to contribute more than $10,000, please reach out to me so we can talk about the best way to be part of the preservation effort. And thank you for taking such good care of la Maison!
what happens if you don't raise all you need?
Right now, I'm focused on doing all the work I can, through a combination of personal funds, financing (interest rates are high and I'm trying to minimize this as much as possible), and donations from community members like you! The recent inspection of the building's foundation assessed it as being in "fair" condition, which means I can defer this repair somewhat. However, if I'm unable to attend to these repairs over the next five years and/or if I need to finance them beyond what is feasible for my monthly operating costs, the future of la Maison will be in jeopardy.
I'VE GOT A QUESTION NOT LISTED HERE
If you have a question about the Maison Preservation Project and how you can get involved that's not listed here, you're welcome to reach out to me directly.
